Here is a step-by-step guide to installing your backsplash
STEP 1: PREPARE THE SURFACE
1. Clean the wall thoroughly to remove grease, dust, or debris.
2. Ensure the surface is smooth and free of holes. Patch any imperfections with spackle or joint compound, and let it dry.
3. Turn off power and remove outlet covers in the work area. Use painter’s tape to protect nearby surfaces.
STEP 2: PLAN THE LAYOUT
1. Measure the area to calculate how many tiles you’ll need. Add about 10% extra for cuts and mistakes.
2. Dry-lay the tiles on a flat surface to decide on your pattern.
3. Mark the centerline of the backsplash area to ensure a balanced look.
STEP 3: APPLY ADHESIVE
1. Use a notched trowel to spread adhesive on a small section of the wall (start at the centerline).
2. Work in small sections to prevent the adhesive from drying out before placing tiles.

STEP 4: PLACE THE TILE
1. Press tiles firmly into the adhesive, starting at the center and working outward.
2. Insert tile spacers between tiles to maintain even gaps for grout.
3. Cut tiles as needed using a tile cutter or wet saw to fit edges, corners, or around outlets.

STEP 5: LET IT SET
1. Allow the adhesive to dry according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually 24 hours).
STEP 6: APPLY THE GROUT
1. Remove the tile spacers.
2. Use a grout float to press grout into the spaces between tiles. Work at an angle to avoid pulling grout out.
3. Wipe away excess grout with a damp sponge, rinsing it frequently.

STEP 7: CLEAN AND SEAL
1. Once the grout has set (about 24 hours), wipe tiles with a clean, damp sponge to remove grout haze.
2. Apply grout sealer to protect it from stains and moisture (if required).

STEP 8: FINISH UP
1. Replace outlet covers and caulk the edges where the backsplash meets the countertop or cabinets for a finished look.
2. Enjoy your new backsplash!
